Background
I can actually pinpoint the time in my life when my passion for books began.
I was feeling poorly and confined to my bed for what seemed like weeks, but what was merely days with some childhood malady.
Mama came in with a big book filled with large pictures and stories about animals. I no longer have the book, nor remember the title, but do I ever remember those pages.
My misery turned into ecstasy.
I was forever captivated.
Books became and remain a huge part of my life.
Even today, if you put a hard copy book in my hands, I’ll open it up, take a big whiff of the “newness” smell (OK, well, I’ll try to do it when you’re not looking)!
But sometimes I can’t help myself.
Funny thing is that doesn’t work so well with an e-book; hence, my lackadaisical approach to those books.
I like the tangible aspect of curling up on my couch near the fireplace on a rainy day with books.
As far as genres go, we all have preferences. I enjoy Christian, Christian Theology, Classics, historical fiction, non-fiction, and biographies.
I also love children’s books. My favorite is “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein.
I still read it occasionally, and I still smile…and cry.
Good books have that effect on me.
